Step 1 -Building Safety Within

Building Resourcing & Nervous System Foundations

Step 1 focuses on helping you identify safety and begin building personal resources. Before deeper regulation work begins, your nervous system needs orientation, clarity, and steady support. Safety can come from memory, imagery or environment. You can “borrow” safety from memories, imagination, environment, or sensation. You regulate better when you feel supported—internally or externally.

In this phase, you will:

• Learn the core concepts of how your nervous system works
• Understand survival states and cumulative stress
• Identify what signals safety for you personally
• Begin mapping internal and external resources
• Practise simple somatic tools that support steadiness

Step 1 creates the conditions that make regulation possible.

Whats Included

  1. Class 1 – Your Nervous System Explained.

A clear introduction to how the autonomic nervous system works. Learn how safety and threat are detected automatically and how your system shifts throughout the day.

  2. Class 2 – Survival States.

Explore fight, flight, freeze, shutdown, and people-pleasing responses. Understand how these patterns shape behaviour, emotion, and relationships.

  3. Class 3 – Trauma & Stress

Nervous System Education

  1. Begin Here – A 7-Day Guide.

A structured starting point designed to build daily awareness of your nervous system states and introduce small, repeatable stabilising rhythms. Its purpose is familiarity and early steadiness.

  2. Meeting Your Nervous System – Mapping & Resourcing Workbook

A guided exploration of your personal patterns. This workbook helps you recognise how your system protects you and what helps it feel supported.

A Safe & Special Place

This guided meditation supports the creation of an internal safety resource.

You will visualise a calm and supportive environment — real or imagined — and anchor that experience through sensory awareness.

Repeated experiences of safety begin to soften threat activation and widen your window of tolerance.

Use this practice whenever grounding or reassurance is needed.

Six short, repeatable somatic practices designed to support settling when activation rises or when shutdown occurs. These include:

1.Alternate Nostril Breathing.

2. Nervous System Tapping.

3.Rocking /Swaying.

4.Grounding

5.Gentle Marching

6.Spinal Rolls

How to Move Through Step 1

Progress through this phase in order:

  1. Complete the three education classes beginning with Class 1.

  2. Download the Nervous System Workbooks beginning with Workbook 1

  3. Begin the companion workbooks to support your journey beginning with 7 Day Begin

  4. Practise the somatic tools as demonstrated in the Resource Library.

  5. Join the community

Remember: Take your time with this; your nervous system learns through repetition and patience.
